I looked around at the boxes, stacked up around my room after getting home from school. I was hugging my knee's on the scratchy carpet of my almost bare room... shocked and somewhat confused. I pulled out my phone and checked the date, no it wasn't April 1st. So this wasn't an April's Fools joke. I stood up and walked into my parents room where they were whispering.
"so whats up with the boxes?" i asked, baffled.
it was rare for my parents to keep secrets.
My mom gave me a concerned look and put her hands on my shoulders.
"Hun, were moving away." she said with a caring smile as if everything was going to be all right, but I knew it wasn't.
"moving? ha ha your funny. nice joke..." i said as if i were right. but i knew i wasn't.
my parents were not ones to joke about things like this.
i walked out of room in fear of the response. I heard my mom come after me and then my dad's gentle word's, "Stacey, let her go." 
I ran to my room and cried until I could no more.
how could i leave the life I had here in tenessee? leave my friends, leave my home, and all the memories I had made.
I had to start over... flip the page and move on. 
a fresh start...
it sounded scary, exciting, and such a terrible idea... all at the same time.
